Most Useful Chart or Memory Trick

Cheater Chart:

Caption:

The cheater chart was extremely useful over the course of the trig unit. I was constantly pulling my chart out to use as a reference and it can be found on the back of many of my tests and quizzes. This chart can be used in place of the unit circle, which in my mind is so much more difficult to gain an understanding of. This chart is used to find the exact value of sine, cosine, and tangent functions. The five main angles all appear in the chart, which makes it easy to determine the angle based on the value of the trig function or the trig function based on the angle. Either way, this trig chart played a crucial role in my understanding of the unit. Not only does the chart as a whole prove to be essential to understanding trigonometry, but it is also incredibly simple to construct. For sine and cosine you find the square root of the initial value and divide by two. The initial values for sine are 0 through 4 for 0 degrees to 90 degrees respectively. It is the opposite order for cosine and tangent is just sine divided by cosine. Making and using the cheater chart could not be easier.
